How to Claim your Business on Apple Maps

Anytime we take on an SEO campaign for a client the first thing we do is create a Google Business Profile Account followed immediately with listing their business on Apple Maps.

The good news is that claiming your business on Apple Maps is a much simpler process than claiming your business with Google.

This step-by-step guide will help you verify and list your business on Apple Maps, increasing your visibility and search engine rankings.

Any time your business is listed in a directory online it increases your authority with Google.

Listing your business with Apple Maps will both increase your website authority and help die-hard Apple fans find your business.

The default mapping app for iPhones is Apple Maps, not Google.

Also, when someone searches for a local business using Siri it’s connected to Apple Maps, not Google Maps.

Pro tip: only list your business with Apple Maps if you serve customers face-to-face at your location.

Follow the steps below to Claim and Verify your Apple Maps Listing.

1. Search for your business in Apple Maps

Visit register.apple.com/placesonmaps and conduct a search for your business.

There’s a good chance your business is already listed because Apple pulls data from various sources.

It’s important to claim your business because this way you can ensure the information is both complete and correct.

If your business is not listed, select the “Add Missing Place” option.

2. Enter your Apple ID

Just like you need a google email to create a Google My Business account, you need an Apple ID to claim your business on Apple Maps. If you don’t already have an Apple ID you can create one here.

3. Enter Your Business Details

You’ll be prompted to enter the details for your business including the primary category for your services.

4. Verify your Number with Apple Maps

Once you submit your information Apple Maps is going to verify your phone number by having their automated system call your business line. You’ll be given a four-digit code that you’ll then enter into the system.

5. Update your Apple Maps Listing Information

Once you’ve claimed and verified your business you can update your basic business information including your Name, Address, and Phone Number (NAP) as well as your service hours and website.

A final note on Apple Maps

Unlike Google Business Profile, Apple Maps does not currently have its own review system.

Instead, they pull reviews from other online aggregator sites like Yelp and Facebook so ensure you’ve optimized your listing there as well.

And that’s it!

Once everything is entered and you’ve verified your business you can expect to show up in Apple Maps search results within 48 hours.
